324 AI Artworks, Including Award-Winning and Selected Pieces from Open Exhibitions, Published on Amazon

An art book featuring my AI artworks — including those that have won awards or been selected for open exhibitions — has been published on Amazon as a two-volume print-on-demand edition: Volume 1 (2700 yen), Volume 2 (2600 yen) (The URLs have been changed due to a subtitle revision).

These artworks were created by giving the AI prompts such as the names of painters and Ukiyo-e masters. The resulting images are not limited to those styles but also reflect many other influences. Beginning about a year before publication, the printed works were submitted to more than ten open-call art exhibitions, most of which were accepted, and four received awards. The artist was also recommended for associate membership at the Genten exhibition. Since these works are regarded as co-creations with AI, the author uses the art unit name Kanabstracd to represent joint authorship. Volume 1 includes 160 of the total 324 pieces — two award-winning works, several selected works, and other representative pieces. The remaining works are featured in Volume 2.

In producing these works, words such as the coined term “Kanabstracd,” as well as names like Cézanne and Seurat and concepts such as surrealism, were provided to the AI. By skillfully using the “negative prompt” function of Stable Diffusion, the AI freely “conceived” diverse works — learning from painters’ styles on the Web while also drawing on its broader visual knowledge. Each piece is accompanied by commentary generated by GPT-5 or GPT-4o (ChatGPT), which points out connections between these AI works and those of Van Gogh, Dalí, Chagall, Klimt, Klee, Kandinsky, Miró, Picasso, Kusama, and many other Renaissance, modern, and contemporary artists.
